SEF GRANT PROCESS OVERVIEW

Grant applications are welcome from:

            Anyone. Applications will come directly to the Board, and we will forward them to the superintendent and the three principals for review and feedback.  Each application will be assigned to an SEF Board member “sponsor” for summary to be presented to the entire Board.  The sponsor will be point person for the grant recipient throughout the life of the project.

We will fund…………according to the following criteria and guidelines:

            Grants will be awarded for projects which:

  • Strengthen the curriculum through innovative programs;
  • Offer additional training and resources for faculty members;
  • Provide for improved school facilities and equipment;
  • Promote educational excellence in all areas of study.
  • Projects should enhance, not duplicate, the standard public school curriculum and programs.
  • Grants are generally not intended to replace or relieve the existing responsibility for public funding of school programs.
  • Applicants should exhaust other sources of funding before coming to SEF. (IE state grants, PTO grants, etc.)
  • Applicant recipients will be asked to submit mid and end year reports on their programs to their sponsor, and will be required to perform some publicity regarding their receipt of funds.

Grant Process and Timeline (to begin Jan 08)

            Grant process begins the end of January

Applications due late March:

  • SEF Board sends copies of the applications to the superintendent and the three principals to review and categorize as high, medium or low priority with regards to curriculum and goals of the school district.
  • Applications are returned to SEF; SEF Board distributes applications among board members who will be responsible for review and presentation to full Board with regards to 1) feedback from principals 2) our own grant criteria, and 3) input from survey.

            SEF Board finalized decision in early-May & notifies recipients

            Award ceremony mid-June
